M5 represents the 5 family members that make up this talented group of young musical artists - but it also represents hope, an unbreakable family bond and unwavering faith in what is possible. Born in Congo, a country known for its violence and war, their family was subjected to the kind of horrific crimes those of us in North America only hear about. Despite the volatile environment they were living in, their musical talents blossomed. Singing and entertaining in churches and parties, they were loved for their charisma and tremendous energy onstage. Their world was blown apart when their family was expatriated from Congo and was forced to become refugees in Thailand. Bangkok was a very trying time for them – a life in limbo, with no money, waiting for a country to accept them. All they had to hold them together was their music, and their dreams of one day sharing it with the world. After five years, Canada answered their prayers and offered them a new home. With nothing to give as thanks to this wonderful country that took them in, the group felt the greatest gift they could offer would be a song. This was the inspiration behind their song ‘Oh Beautiful Canada’. Now living in Calgary, Alberta, they aspire to share their story of fostering hope amidst the darkness they experienced, through the only gift they have been given, their music.
