BIG MUSIC FEST IN OWEN SOUND
by Kate Harper (CHARTattack) - The lineup for Owen Sound, Ont.'s Big Music Fest makes it look like we're still in the heydays of late '90s Can-rock.
Our Lady Peace, Finger Eleven, Matthew Good, Hedley and David Wilcox will perform at the festival, which will take place at Owen Sound's Kelso Beach on July 3. Interestingly, Hedley are headlining the festival, which clearly indicates an attempt to target young'uns in addition to aging alternative nationalists.
Tickets go on sale Thursday (April 1) through Ticketmaster and Kelsey's restaurants in Owen Sound, Collingwood, Ont., Barrie, Ont. and Orangeville, Ont., according to the Owen Sound Times. They'll run you $49.50.
This is the first time Big Music Fest will be held in Owen Sound. The festival has had successful runs in Belleville, Ont. Organizers attempted to stage the Big Music Fest near Owen Sound last year, but faced attendance problems due to there only being one access road and no hydro.
Gord Downie, ZZ Top, Collective Soul, Big Sugar, Karl Wolf and Danny Fernandes will play this year's Big Music Fest in Belleville, which will be held June 19 at East Zwicks Park.
