Ottawa’s Hammer Smashed Radio releases free compilation for fourth anniversary

Ottawa’s Hammer Smashed Radio on CKCU 93.1FM, has released a free download compilation as part of their annual fourth anniversary birthday bash. The compilation includes tracks from Unique Leaders’ Immersed as well as Canadian death metal veterans Deamon and Insurrection. Download the compilation here.

All six bands included will be performing on February 25th at Maverick’s Bar (Ottawa) as part of the anniversary bash. Tickets are currently available at Vertigo Records, The Record Shaap, and The Ink Spot Tattoo & Body Piercing. For more info on the Feb. 25 performances, check out the event’s Facebook page. Hammer Smashed Radio airs every Tuesday from 10-11pm on CKCU 93.1 FM in Ottawa.

Edmonton Garage Punk Band NN Releases New Video

The band started in 2006 in the drummer’s basement and jammed for years before playing its first show in 2010. Since then, the band has headlined its own cd release show to 200 people and has performed over 20 times including Tokyo for Japan Music Week. Canadian music photographer Andrew MacNaughtan dies in Los Angeles

Andrew MacNaughtan, a photographer that specialized in Canadian music, died on Wednesday at age 47. He was well known for photographing Canadian bands such as RUSH, Avril Lavigne, Celine Dion, Simple Plan, Michael Buble and many others. One of his recent projects, however, was a departure from his usual work. “Grace: Africa in Photographs,” was an 80-page hard-cover book filled which photographs from a trip to east-Africa. The project aimed to collect new child sponsors for World Vision.
